Edinburgh's Ageing Well Camera Club is a group of camera and photography enthusiasts who meet every week to enjoy photography and friendship. We're called a camera club but the coffee and cake is just as important. We're all here to enjoy photography, share ideas and learn from one another.
We meet every week, swapping between weeks out and about, and weeks spent at Meadowbank Sports Centre looking at our photos.
In week 1, we're out and about taking photos. We try to get out and about across the whole city - and occasionally further afield. We will all join up at a prearranged meeting place, and then go our own ways to take our photos. (If we stayed together, we'd all go home with very similar photos.)
We always have a theme, but it's strictly optional. Some people follow the theme very closely. Some people take just one or two themed photos. Everyone is welcome to interpret the theme however they want.
At the end of the morning we meet up in a coffee shop to chat about - well, pretty much anything. We take coffee (or tea) very seriously.
In week 2, we all meet up at Meadowbank Sports Centre to share our photos. Everyone is welcome to share up to 10 photographs. And if they missed the previous week's outing, they're welcome to share any photos they've taken recently.
It's always enjoyable to see the variety of photos that people have brought with them. Photographers are welcome, if they choose, to tell us a wee bit about the photos that they have taken. Anyone is welcome to join the conversation - the only rule is to be positive and helpful.
Afterwards, many of us will head for the on-site café. (I told you we take our tea and coffee very seriously.)
We're very much an all-abilities club. It doesn't matter whether you're just starting out or you've been taking photographs for years. Bring whatever camera you enjoy using, from a simple compact camera to a DSLR or mirrorless camera. Everyone is welcome.
