Lochrin Basin

February 2025 - Lochrin Canal Basin

Optional theme - Reflections

Weather - Bitterly cold

Refreshments - Loudons - The scones came highly recommended, but not everyone got them because they sold out

Maggie chose an abstract treatment for this photo

Sandra photographed a graffiti artist at work.

Ada's photo captures exactly how Lochrin Basin looks today in 2025.

Alex captured this moody image of Union Canal.

This fabulous abstract was captured by Eileen.

Arthur captured this photo of the lifting bridge.

Beryl managed to find some sunshine!

Colin found these tree reflections in the canal.

Two outings: Edinburgh Park and the Omni Centre

January 2025 - Venue 1 - Edinburgh Park - Theme - Curves  - Weather - A crisp bright day

January 2025 - Venue 2 - Omni Centre - Theme - Look Up - Weather - Dreich

Refreshments - The Gyle Centre Food Court, Coffee Saints

Alex chose black and white for Edinburgh Park, and captured this view of the business park and the wee lake. On East London Street, looking up revealed this beautiful panel of colourful tiles.

Arthur's image of Edinburgh Street Food captures the dreichness of the day. The coffee afterwards was very welcome!

Beryl escaped the drab day by nipping into John Lewis.

Eileen's pair of images are strikingly similar, despite their very different subject matter. Top, a detail from one of Paolozzi's sculptures at Edinburgh Park. Bottom, looking up to a very sculptural traffic light on Leith Street.

Ian's image from Edinburgh Park shows the curve of the elevated tram line.

Kate found some lovely curves in an amphitheatre at Edinburgh Park.

Maggie created this abstract from an original image of a circular cobblestone road surface.

Sandra's image of pebbles at Edinburgh Park captures the theme of curves. From the Omni Centre, she made her way to the P's and G's Church to capture the Gothic Revival magnificence of this Grade A listed building.

Ada found animals in both locations!

Alison's first photo is a detail from the giraffe sculpture. Her second photo is titled One Gull, Two Rails. I'm sorry, it's a dreadful pun, but it made us all laugh.

Colin's photos capture architectural details from both locations.

Ian was the only one of us who thought to take a photo of Regent Bridge.

Mandy photographed the sculptures, and found similar poses in both locations.
